While I’ve been concentrating on my Disneyland project a lot lately, I’ve also started a new, unrelated drawing recently too. This is the Royal Liver Building, from my hometown of Liverpool, UK. It is probably the most recognisable landmark in the city and is known across the world as a symbol of Liverpool, with its two Liver Bird statues topping the two highest domes. Like many people from Liverpool, I’ve always loved this building and it’s dominating position on the waterfront. There is a lot of work out there featuring this building and I think its about time I added my interpretation into the mix. I have tried to bring across the character of the building, using very fine tipped pens to pick out many of the intricate details. As ever, its a time consuming process, but well worth it I feel. Here are a few progress snaps, enjoy!
